Containing 200 recipes submitted by club members, the cookbook is out for sale today .
“It’s a really interesting mix,” said the club’s president, Abbie Micucci. “Everything from appetizers to main dishes to desserts to kid-friendly recipes. There are some really unique ones – certainly some I’ve never heard of.” “We have members who come from all over the country, as well as other countries,” Micucci said. Micucci said the club was looking for a way to supplement its main fundraising event, an art auction held in April, when she and another club member came up with the cookbook idea. Her mother and grandmother had put a similar recipe book together recently she said, and she “was familiar with the process.” “We have a history of cookbooks (in my family),” she said. “I guess we like to eat.” Micucci said club organizers were also looking for a way to raise money without having to orchestrate a large event like the art auction. The club will not hold its fall crafts fair this year, which meant there was “kind of a lag” in the club’s fall fundraising efforts as well, she said. “We wanted to figure out a way to compensate for that,” Micucci said.
This past spring the club coordinated with G&R Publishing, which specializes in cookbooks, to have members begin submitting their recipes online for inclusion in the book.
