Matilde Parente • Reader Submitted • August 18, 2009 WinewomenPSP have good news for Soldiers’ Organized Services, a group of volunteers that provide free
rides to Twentynine Palms soldiers: Their August 28th fundraiser at Piero’s Acqua Pazza at The River is nearly sold out. Each month, the local wine-appreciation group donates a portion of their event proceeds to a valley charity. S.O.S. supporters, wine and food lovers have been snapping up tickets to WinewomenPSP’s Night at The River, a three-course dinner with wine pairings by B Cellars Winery, a Napa Valley winery known for their blends. Nicknamed Killer Bs, these wines have fans buzzing about their balance and quality. B Cellars was the featured winery at the Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner held earlier this year at Spencer’s Restaurant. The first wine the ladies, and more than a few brave men, are slated to sip is Blend 23, a mix of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier that yields rich fruit flavors and tropical scents. Choice of entre is served with Blend 24, which combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese and a splash of Petite Sirah in Super Tuscan style. Two additional treats are a limited-production 2006 Beckstoffer’s George III Cabernet Sauvignon and finally, B Cellars 2006 Petite Sirah served with Piero’s Acqua Pazza’s heavenly flourless triple-chocolate cake.
