People in over 175 cities around the world were Tweeting for charity yesterday, in a Twestival to raise awareness of the need for clean
drinking water in majority world nations. The was expected to raise $1 million for the 1.1 billion people around the world who can’t access clean drinking water. Money raised from the Twestival will go to charity:water – a nonprofit organisation bringing clean water to people in the majority world. Charity:water founder Scott Harrison said: “The need for clean and safe drinking water worldwide is real and pressing, and there are effective solutions that can radically change lives.” The Twestival is a worldwide festival organised on micro-blogging service Twitter – and 20,000 people from Bethlehem to Birmingham, Beijing to Boston planned to take part in the event.
