“There once was a ship that put to sea
The name of the ship was the Billy O’ Tea
The winds blew up, her bow dipped down
Oh blow, my bully boys, blow (huh)”
It’s time to release your inner pirate when you join An Evening of Shanties, Sea Songs and Laughter this April 25. Happening at the Bedford Corn Exchange, you’ll be treated to amazing performances by the sea shanty band, Sloop Groggy Dogs. Feel free to sing your little pirate heart out with them as they belt out to crowd favorites such as the Wellerman, Hoist the Colours, and Nancy Mulligan. You’ll also get a chance to win an award if you come in your most inspired pirate look, so don’t be shy to come in as Captain Jack Sparrow, Blackbeard, or Anne Bonny. Funds raised from this arrr-some event will go to the Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire’s nominated local charities and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, a charity who provides “a 24-hour rescue service in the UK” with their volunteer lifeboat crews and delivers sea safety advice and training to communities.
Friday 25 April 7.30pm to 9.30pm

These salty sea-dogs are offering a fun night out singing shanties, sea songs and other crowd-pleasers plus a few giggles on the way through!
The evening is intended to raise money for the Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire’s nominated local charities and for the hard-working RNLI. Please support this great event and help these irrepressible, fun-loving guys raise money for some great local causes. An evening you won’t forget in a hurry.
If you ever found yourself singing along to ‘The Wellerman’, this is the night for you!
