A SPECIAL fund-raising event in memory of a well-known Lichfield man who died of cancer is being organised.
The next event, a sports night, will take place on Saturday, July 4 and will have a 1970s fancy dress theme. There will be a buffet, disco and raffle and among the prizes is an Aston Villa shirt signed by manager Martin O’Neil. All proceeds from the event will go to the Red Balloon Appeal at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. There will be a prize for the best fancy dress though wearing a costume is not essential. Matt’s mum Pat told the Mercury: “This event is for a good cause and by doing it we are keeping Matt’s memory alive. “But I would not be able to do it without support. People have been very generous giving prizes and we have been given the room for free.
“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for their support.”
