About Marty:

In October 2012, Marty Manning was diagnosed with Adenosquamous Carcinoma of the Pancreas, a rare, aggressive form of Pancreatic Cancer. The life threatening reality of the diagnosis presented much stress on Marty, his wife and two young daughters. After much prayer, this family made the decision to seek the very best medical care they could find and to be positive and have faith in God.

In early November Marty began his treatment in Houston under the direction of Dr. Philip Salem, physician, researcher, and educator with more than 40 years of experience in cancer research and treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center, St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital and Salem Oncology Center. Dr. Salem developed a personalized treatment plan specific to the concentrations of disease in Marty’s tumor.

Marty’s personalized treatments are not covered by his health insurance plan, which created an overwhelming financial challenge. Marty’s family and friends banded together to create a support structure to address the financial needs of his mounting medical expenses. FPR Foundation partnered with Marty and his family in late 2012 to lend a helping hand to their fundraising efforts. FPR Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 organization and donations are tax deductible.

The results of Marty’s pet scan in May was encouraging. The tumor had reduced in size and metabolic activity. Unfortunately, the tumor remains inoperable and the most aggressive chemotherapy to date is in process.

Marty lives in the DFW area with his wife Carrie, and their two daughters Macey (13) and Makayla (11), and step-son Jonathan (24).

Marty has worked at Kroger Stores in the DFW area for over 25 years. Carrie is a teacher at McDonald Middle School in Mesquite ISD.
