Local sports briefs VOLLEYBALL Endicott stayed perfect in NECVA action by stopping Lesley, 3-0.
The Gulls (15-7, 9-0) cruised by game scores of 30-12, 30-9 and 30-23. Joshua Bruno totaled seven kills and B.J. Worth had five in the second set alone. WRESTLING Beverly’s Tom Cacciola was named Wrestler of the Year as the Northeastern Conference Wrestling awards and all-stars were officially named. Beverly, the conference champions, had six NEC all-stars, including Jake Petronzio (103 lbs.), Justin Lehman (112), Evan Johnson (140), Kurt Stallsmith (145), Ben Comeau (189) and Cacciola (215), in addtion to the NEC Coach of the Year in Mark Thomas. Marblehead/Swampscott had four all-stars in Kristian Kotov (119 lbs.), Brandon Poulin (125), Josh Levy (130) and Jonathan Taylor (285). They also won the Team Sportsmanship Award. Salem saw Jancer Garcia (171) and Steve Lamonica (285) chosen, while Georgetown/Ipswich was represented by Andrew Galanis (135) and Dean Nemeroff (140). HALLS OF FAME
Tickets for the Beverly High School Sports Hall of Fame ceremony, which takes place March 28 at the Danversport Yacht Club, are on sale. They may be purchased at Todd’s Sporting Goods, 393 Cabot St., Beverly, or by mailing Dave Jellerson at 19 Herrick St., Beverly, MA 01915. Tickets are $45 and the deadline to buy them is March 21. Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope. No tickets will be sold at the door.
