nebusiness Advertising Features Competition heats up in bid to win

Get involved AS the start of the Dickinson Dees Enterprise Charity Challenge (DDECC) nears, local businesses are firing up their creative minds to help
raise funds for local charity. Leading law firm, Dickinson Dees LLP is calling upon local businesses to help raise thousands of pounds for St. Oswald’s Hospice in Gosforth by signing up to a challenge to convert &pound100 into as much money as possible over a period of weeks. The challenge will officially begin at the beginning of August, when businesses from across the region will be given &pound100 each by Dickinson Dees to invest with the hope of not only of winning the challenge itself, but raising vital funds for the hospice in the process. Robin Bloom, senior partner at Dickinson Dees, said: “This challenge is designed to test the investment and planning strategies of the local business community, while supporting a very worthy cause. As the challenge presents a no risk, yet competitive and creative opportunity to those taking part, we’re hoping to attract many more businesses over the coming weeks before the challenge begins on August 1.” As businesses queue up to take part in the challenge, the competitive spirits of those involved is starting to shine through. Lee Taylor, director at Welbeck Design Consultancy, said: “Last year we grew some chilli peppers in the office because the partners enjoy eating extremely hot food, so this year, knowing that we would be raising money for St. Oswald’s, we have had the idea of doing something a bit special with our chillies.”
Welbeck will be using their &pound100 to buy the materials needed to grow their chillies, including one of the world’s hottest varieties, which will then be sold on at a profit so that the company can fund their main event in October.
