A CYCLE ride in the hills around Huddersfield has won the support of a British Olympian.
Mirfield man Brian Robinson, who took part in the 1952 games, has loaned his name to a 75-mile charity ride through the Holme Valley and Denby Dale. The event was previously known as the Kirklees Cycle Sportive. But organiser Martyn Bolt decided a change of name was needed. He said: “I have ridden every inch of this route many times myself and I know that riders are in for a memorable experience. I hope that cyclists will finish the ride knowing they have had a good workout.” The ride starts and ends at Huddersfield Rugby Union Club in Lockwood on April 26. Anyone interested in taking part must pre-register and pay the £20 entry cost by April 20. Find your new home: Minimum price
