Imagine having an active lifestyle all your life, and in one instant, you lose all your ability to move. One day you’re running, swimming, or cycling, and the next, you can’t even walk. This is what happened to tetraplegics. They are fit people who through a freak accident, became paralyzed from neck downwards. Think of the late Superman actor Christopher Reeve, who after being thrown off a horse during an equestrian competition, was paralyzed shoulders down, and needed to use a wheelchair and ventilator for the rest of his life. Losing all motion not only affects you physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. This is why Regain Sports Charity, “the only charity dedicated to improving the independence of all British men and women who have become tetraplegic through a sports injury,” was founded. Their mission is “To improve the quality of life for individuals who have suffered a spinal injury whilst taking part in a sport, leisure or recreational activity, that resulted in that person becoming tetraplegic.” They’ve already helped thousands of tetraplegics live better lives, and to continue doing so, they need your help.
On June 29, 2024, Regain will be hosting the Regain Cycling Challenge 2024 at Thruxton Circuit, Andover, England. Everyone, regardless of age and ability, is welcome to join this all-inclusive cycling challenge. All proceeds raised will go to funding Regain’s various programs.

This all-inclusive cycling challenge is open to people of all ages and all abilities. The racetrack is long (2.4 miles) and very wide, so it’s perfect for everyone!
We’ll once again be offering a Family Challenge for children aged 4-14 who can cycle as many laps as they can. Our Bronze (10 laps), Silver (20 laps) and Gold (30 laps) challenges will also be returning.
All funds raised from the day will support Regain, the only charity dedicated to improving the lives of people who have become tetraplegic in a sporting accident.
Christopher Reeve once said, “I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” You don’t need to fly, have extraordinary strength, nor have x-ray vision to be a hero. You just need a caring heart and a determined mind. Book your tickets to cycle amongst heroes here now.
