MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Don’t let the brown grass fool you. While it’s just under four months away, organizers of the annual Stanford St. Jude Golf Championship at the TPC at Southwind are already ripe with spring fever. “Our goals and objectives have never changed,” said Stanford/St.Jude Golf Exec. Director Kevin Krisle. “We remain busy at work planning, and [we’re] very excited about hosting the 52nd edition tournament here in Memphis come June.” Memphis investment analyst Martavius Jones says Stanford, who boasts of over $8 billion in assets and 30,000 clients worldwide, could be the victim of a new “get tough” policy in Washington brought on by a now infamous financial boondoggle. “In light of the Bernie Madoff situation, I would say that the SEC has to be more vigilant because you’re talking about thousands of people who lost billions of dollars,” said Jones. “I don’t think that they’re necessarily picking on Stanford. They’re increasing the amount of examination on a number of firms.”
