Get involved IF the London Marathon has inspired you to get your running shoes on for a good cause, look no further than the
Cardiff Half Marathon as your chance to raise money for charity. Now in its seventh year, the event will take place on Sunday, October 18, and will start at 9am, with the wheelchair race at 8.50am. “The Cardiff Half Marathon is a fantastic event and always has a good turnout with club runners and those who want to help raise money for good causes,” said event organiser Rachel Madge, of children’s charity Barnardo’s Cymru, which organises the event. “We always have such good support for the race which attracts hundreds of spectators and really is a great day.” Barnardo’s organises the event with Cardiff council and the South Wales Echo. The half marathon is open to anyone aged 17 and over on the day of the race. One of the first to enter this year is the South Wales Echo’s editor Mike Hill, who will be running to raise money for Barnardo’s Cymru. “The half marathon is not just a race, but a special event which raises thousands of pounds for charities,” said Rachel.
“Barnardo’s Cymru is proud of the fact that through this race they are creating a platform for all charities and good causes to raise much needed money and we hope this year’s event will bring even more money for worthy charities.
