On behalf of the Friends of the Guardian ad Litem of Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties, I thank everyone involved in the BMW Charity Pro-Am
golf tournament held in May for the wonderful opportunity provided to us and the other 77 recipient charities. We especially want to thank USC Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers and professional golfer Kyle Thompson for donating their $6,000 second-place winnings to our cause. These funds will help us serve the needs of children who have been removed from their homes due to neglect or abuse. The service provided by our volunteer guardians and representatives of the interests of these children, who otherwise would be voiceless in a legal system that impacts their lives so deeply, is crucial. We are blessed to have the BMW tournament, which raised nearly $652,000 this year, in the Upstate community, especially here in Spartanburg at the Carolina Country Club. This tournament impacts the community in so many valuable ways, and I urge everyone in Spartanburg to continue to support it through attendance and volunteering.
